HAWC collaboration

Jose Ruben Alfaro Molina

Ruben studied physics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He obtained his Ph.D. from the same University on low energy elastic scattering collisions. After two-year of postdoctoral experience at the IUCF Indiana University, he joined the Physics Instituto at UNAM working on detector development, in particular for imaging The Sun Pyramid at Teotihuacan Archeological Site and the Vertex Zero (V0) detector for ALICE. Since 2007 he is a member of the HAWC collaboration. During the HAWC construction stage, he was chair of the detector instrumentation group and now he is part of the operations board. He participates actively in HAWC outreach activities, especially he is interested in developing low-cost and easy to operate detectors which can be used for outreach in high schools.
