Learning with ATLAS@CERN

Purpose

To improve science instruction by expanding the resources for teaching and learning

Information

Learning with ATLAS is an on-line science education and outreach "portal," a virtual experimental laboratory for students, teachers and science museum visitors. This portal was developed by a consortium of 11 members (see below). The aim is to improve science instruction by expanding the resources for teaching and learning in schools, universities and science centers & museums, providing more challenging and authentic learning experiences. It allows for users to build "learning pathways" by choosing materials available and combining these resources in ways relevant to them, the learner.

The main feature of this portal is the Learning with ATLAS@CERN Repository. The repository houses recommended learning and outreach materials which registered users may consult and contribute to via the "ATLAS@CERN Tool-Box."

This portal also hosts a link to current LHC news.

Materials housed can be in English, French, Finnish, German, Greek and Swedish (the official languages of all consortium members).

Members of the Consortium are:
1. National and Kapodistrian University of Athens
2. University of Stolckholm
3. Austrian Ministry of Education
4. University of Birmingham
5. Ellinogermaniki Agogi
6. HEUREKA
7. House of Science
8. University of Bayreuth
9. European Physical Society
10. CERN
11. LBNL
