Purpose

To improve understanding of the complexities and purpose of the Large Hadron Collider

Information

This interactive simulates the workings of the Large Hadron Collider based at CERN in Geneva Switzerland. As the real accelerator operators do, the player must adjust the LHC controls to ready the accelerator for a particle collision! As the player manipulates the controls, s/he is guided by helpful hints and facts about the real LHC. Images of the real LHC enhance this experience.
Play with temperature control, magnetic field control and collision energy control and see if you too can learn about the origins of our universe!

This project was funded by the Science and Technology Facilities Council of the UK. More tools and materials for learning about particle physics can be found on their website at http://www.lhc.ac.uk/The+Particle+Detectives/15273.aspx
