Weltmaschine Exhibit #1.7 - Ball Linear Accelerator / Kugel-Linearbeschleuniger

Purpose

To increase a general audience's understanding of how a linear accelerator works

Information

This hands-on exhibit is part of the exhibition module #9 "The Big Bang in the Tunnel" of the exhibition 'Weltmaschine'. Created by DESY in Germany, it teaches how linear accelerators work. Exhibit visitors are invited to try the accelerator themselves.
It has been rebuilt (with small modifications and improvements) at several places in Germany , e.g. Bonn and Dresden. The Dresden version is also in this data base at http://ippog.web.cern.ch/resources/2010/linac-accelerator-game . There You find more photos and especially the link to complete drawings for rebuilding.
