About IPPOG's values and Code of Conduct
The IPPOG Collaboration draws its creativity and strength from world-wide members with different backgrounds. This pluralism is an essential part of our identity as scientists and we fully uphold the principles of inclusiveness and diversity.
In its 18th Collaboration Board meeting (May 2025) the IPPOG Collaboration decided to refer, for all Code of Conduct and related matters, to the:

Code of Conduct and Ethical Behaviour of the IPPOG Collaboration
1. Preamble
The IPPOG Collaboration is committed to providing an environment that encourages the free expression and exchange of scientific ideas and to guarantee the equality of opportunity and treatment for all members. We promote a high standard of integrity in the performance of our work and in our relationships with others to build a culture of trust and responsibility. We acknowledge that our collective commitment to creating a positive work environment and to acting ethically in the conduct of our activities is essential both to achieving the Collaboration’s goals and protecting its reputation.
2. As participant to the IPPOG Collaboration meetings and activities, we act according to the following principles:
Respect for diversity and personal privacy:
- Respect and value differences, different experiences and points of view.
- Commit to represent the diversity of our community in the management of the organization.
- Abstain from and actively discourage any form of discrimination.
- Treat others with tact, courtesy and respect, being aware that language and behaviour not intended to offend may be perceived as such.
- Refrain from unpleasant or disparaging remarks or actions, in particular on the basis of, but not limited to: sex, age, religion, beliefs, nationality, culture, ethnicity, race, sexual orientation, professional status, disability, or family situation.
- Avoid any form of harassment and bullying; verbal, non-verbal, written as well as physical and actively intervene when observing inappropriate attitudes or actions.
- Respect the privacy of others and protect any personal information given to us in confidence.
Inclusiveness and commitment to the community and its future:
- Promote inclusiveness in terms of both personal characteristics and professional abilities.
- Invest in team-building activities and the development of effective working relationships between members of the Collaboration.
Commitment to the Collaboration
- Recognise that our behaviour, both within and outside the IPPOG Collaboration, may affect the reputation of the entire Collaboration
- Protect the reputation of the IPPOG Collaboration and our colleagues when communicating with external parties.
- Refrain from any act or omission designed to deceive others or result in a loss of funds or reputation for the IPPOG Collaboration.
- Safeguard confidential information, documents or data, and ensure that such material in our possession is properly protected and refrain from accessing confidential information after leaving the Collaboration.
- Share our knowledge and professional experience in a constructive manner to further the mission of the Collaboration.
- When appropriate, share with internal parties any information that could benefit them in their work.
Maintaining a good work environment in the Collaboration
- Promote and maintain a safe and healthy environment by familiarizing ourselves with all applicable rules and regulations and by following them.
- Focus on what is best for the community, promoting a collaborative attitude and open discussion of ideas, methods, and results.
- Help in maintaining an atmosphere of tolerance and mutual respect, acting proactively and impartially to prevent or solve conflicts. This includes gracefully accepting constructive criticism and keeping discussions on scientific grounds.
