INSPYRE, the INternational School on modern PhYsics and REsearch is an international program organised by INFN (Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare), designed for Italian and foreign high school students aged 16 or older who are eager to explore the world of physics and scientific research.
Each year, the school welcomes bright and curious students to spend an entire week immersed in modern physics. Through lectures, discussions, and experimental group work, participants gain a unique first-hand experience of how research is conducted in a real scientific environment guided by passionate and expert researchers. Over the course of approximately 40 hours of activities, students engage directly with cutting-edge topics in particle physics and related fields.
In 2026, INSPYRE will feature two separate editions, each with its own scientific program and speakers:
-
April 13-17, 2026 at the INFN Laboratori Nazionali di Frascati (LNF), near Rome
-
November 23-27, 2026 at the INFN Laboratori Nazionali del Sud (LNS) in Catania, Sicily
Students may apply to only one of the two editions.
Application timeline:
-
Frascati edition: applications are open from November 1st, 2025
-
Catania edition: applications will open in spring 2026 (dates to be announced)
The INSPYRE program offers an extraordinary opportunity for young people to experience science beyond the classroom and to interact with peers from around the world who share a passion for discovery.
