Smashing Science
In 2009 twelve high school students won the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair's "Best of Category" Award. The prize? A trip to Geneva, Switzerland to explore CERN. This short film made by one of the student winners, Eliza McNitt, documents these young scientists' experiences on their journey to visit the Large Hadron Collider at CERN and the groundbreaking science they discover along the way. The film includes scenes with CERN's Dr. David Barney, Dr. John Ellis, Dr. Wolfgang Von Rueden, Dr. Jim Virdee, and Dr. Steven Goldfarb. This film is useful to highlight how a visit to CERN can be a life-changing experience as young minds are inspired to enter the world of particle physics. Student Winners for the 2009 Intel ISEF Best of Category Award were: Ronit Abramson, Ryan Cherian Alexander, Mark Chonofsky, Kevin Ellis, Tony Huang, Marley Iredale, Alexander Kent Kendrick, Ashoka Sanjaya Rejendra, Scott Skirlo, Nilesh Tripuraneni, I-ching Xing Film Produced May 2011 Eliza McNitt copyright
