LHC World Wide Data Day (W2D2) is coming soon! This unique 24-hour global event invites high school students from around the world to become particle physicists for an entire day.
From midnight to midnight (UTC), student teams analyse real data from the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and share their findings through live videoconferences moderated by physicists taking shifts across the globe.
How it works:
-
Teams of any size can participate, as long as they are composed of high school students supervised by an adult mentor (teacher, physicist, or university student).
-
Participants will explore open data from LHC experiments such as ATLAS and CMS, using resources and guides provided by the organizers.
-
Each group uploads its results before joining a 30-minute Zoom videoconference to discuss their analysis and experiences with peers and moderators worldwide.
