Georgian Technical University (GTU) is one of the biggest educational and scientific institutions in the South Caucasian region. It was founded in 1922. It’s a leading engineering higher educational institution and powerful scientific center. It has partner relationships with 58 local and 75 international research and scientific-educational organizations. GTU educational-scientific activities are funded by the local and international scientific organizations and funds, including TEMPUS (13 projects), Erasmus Mundus (5 projects), FP7 (6 projects), Erasmus+ ICM projects (18 projects). GTU has 18’719 undergraduate students, 1251 masters, 640 PhD, 1’228 academic personnel, 505 full Professors, 533 Associate Professors, 190 Assistant Professors, 279 Invited Professors, 369 Teachers, 2179 Support Personnel.
GTU have 12 faculties covering Engineering, Technology, Humanities, Law, Business, Social Sciences, 59 departments, 127 educational scientific centers, 17 scientific-research institutes. GTU has 4 educational programs and accredited 211 educational curriculas. Since 2005 GTU was joined to Bologna process.
GTU participates in Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) project for STEM Higher Education Development in Georgia. STEM programs include Electrical (Power) Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Chemical Engineering and Civil Engineering fields.
GTU has advanced partnerships in the fields of education and research with the world's leading organizations, such as KEK (Japan), Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH (Germany), CERN (Switzerland), JINR - Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (Dubna). Central scientific library of GTU is one of the largest libraries in Georgia. The University has licensed Rosetta Stone® language learning software, which includes American English, British English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish languages.
