Research & Teaching

The Florence unit of the INFN (Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics) carries out research activities in various fields of fundamental physics: Experimental Particle Physics, Astroparticle Physics,Nuclear Physics,Theoretical Physics. Three experimental groups participate in searches with the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, with the experiments CMSLHCb and LHCf. All activities are performed in tight connection to the Physics and Astronomy Department of the University of Florence. The Florence INFN unit is hosting the LABEC (laboratory of nuclear techniques applied to cultural heritage and environment) and is partner of the Galileo Galilei Institute for Theoretical Physics, international center devoted to theoretical physics. The educational activity at the Florence University offers a broad range for specialization, from degree (3 years course), master degree (5 years course) to the Physics PhD program.
