Research & Teaching
Experimental Particle Physics research in the Department of Physics and Astronomy ranges from hadron collider research with the CDF Experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron and the CMS Experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider to B-Physics research with the BaBar Experiment at the SLAC PEP-II Collider. Theoretical Particle Physics research in the department is focused on the study of physics beyond the Standard Model. Hopefully, the LHC will provide puzzles that keep both groups busy and interacting!.
The Department of Physics and Astronomy also has significant efforts in Condensed Matter Physics and in Astrophysics .
