QuarkNet
Begun in 1998, this U.S.-based program provides opportunities for teachers to learn about and contribute to particle physics experiments and share what they learn with their students. This collaboration has yielded a variety of online instructional resources including raw datasets and derivative activities that provide opportunities for high school students to increase their understanding of particle physics and develop stronger scientific habits of mind.

Re-Creating the Big Bang
Professor Peter Watkins of University of Birmingham, UK, gives a brief explanation of the Large Hadron Collider and the ATLAS experiment. In this short overview, he describes the following: 1. What scientists are researching at the LHC; 2. The LHC and how it works; 3. The main aims of the ATLAS experiment; 4. Why this experiment is exciting for science, for human kind; 5. The size of the ATLAS Detector; 6. The Grid- selecting events, analysis of data; 7. Connection between active research and undergraduate lectures; 8. What happens next - LHC results and future colliders.

Journey to the Unimaginably Small
The narrorator takes us from a 1 mm column, down to the very smallest building blocks of matter to demonstrate just how incredibly small the things are that the Large Hadron Collider studies. Charge! Electricity and Magnetism
Particle physicists know how magnets big and small work and how they apply to our world. Students explore the relationship of magnetism and electricity and have questions answered about the power of these forces. This presentation is one of a series offered by Fermilab scientists, engineers and technicians at schools near the Lab. The ATLAS Experiment Movie
This award winning film gives a glimpse behind the scenes of building the ATLAS detector. It asks: Why are so many physicists anxious to build this apparatus? Will they be able to answer fundamental questions such as: Where does mass come from? Why does the Universe have so little antimatter? Are there extra dimensions of space that are hidden from our view? Is there an underlying theory to find? Major surprises are likely in this unknown part of physics.
